Life Balance: Being Healthy While Living In The City

I’m going to spill the beans here and be totally transparent and let you know my ‘secrets’ to staying healthy and youthful, beyond my genetic DNA. Adam has emailed me 3 times over the last year asking me to share my diet with him and you. Here are some of the things that I do to keep up with my busy lifestyle.

When I live in nature it is super easy to maintain a physically strong posture and intake food that is straight from the Earth. For the last 7 years I have been living in the city and even though I’m at the Beaches and there is more nature here than most areas around the city, I’m still affected by the noise, electronics, pollution and etheric environment of congested minds and closed hearts. So, there is a lot to maintain and to put into place so that I can function while living here and not be directly conditioned by the dispersed energy that escalates around any environment.

I have been vegan for 17 years and the last two I went off my vegan diet and introduced some fish and dairy, it was a very hard decision to change into but my body was asking for it so I complied. I  listen to what my body needs and feed it accordingly, avocados is a main staple in our house, with lemon or lime water and grains along with fresh veggies.

Greens: kale, spinach, green lettuces, asparagus raw along with beets and carrots is a must with lemon juice and sesame seeds sprinkled over top.

I color code my food and make sure that there is green, yellow, reds, whites and oranges in the food I eat, it represents a plethora of what my body desires, remember I see life in color, not everyone does, for most people they do not even think about color in their food.

I drink Jasmine Green Tea which in itself has so many beneficial qualities such as eliminating free radicals it prevents some forms of cancer, which also arrests aging. It also connects with cholesterol and blocks it, decreases level of cholesterol in blood, as well as prevents bad cholesterol, caused by oxidation. The impact of jasmine tea on circulatory system is even more beneficial, since it is believed to prevent brain strokes, heart attacks, thrombosis and arterial sclerosis. It is good for diabetes prevention and reducing high blood pressure.

In addition, jasmine tea fights viruses and bacteria, preventing thus influenza, cavities and food poisoning, including cholera, dysentery, mouth bacteria damaging teeth and piccoli causing gastric ulcers. One of the jasmine tea health benefits is to improve intestine conditions by blocking development and growth of bad bacteria and strengthening good bacteria.

Coconut water is one of my top choices of liquids as it fortifies so many nutrients and also Coconuts are anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-microbial. The lauric acid in coconuts is also used to heal digestive tract disorders such as Leaky Gut Syndrome. It helps flush out toxins and helps women with hot flashes and menopausal phases, it’s a natural stress reducer. Another benefit is that is aids in replenishing the skin and hydrates.

Avocados at least one a day, beyond the awesome taste here are the benefits: avocados are truly a gift from the Earth, they reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, protects cholesterol related heart diseases and is also a prevenative and treatment of prostate and breast cancers. Thereis a toxin in avocado that kills cancer cells, and has a great effect on the tissues, thereby protecting the heart tissue muscles. The minerals in Avocados are potassium, vitamin C and K, calcium, folic acid, copper and sodium. Oleic acid in avocados lowers cholestrol levels in the blood, sodium reduces the risk of high blood pressure and stroke. Avocados are a great antioxidant, it is very helpful in treating skin disorders and to boot it helps in sexual problems. They are also great for cooking with in raw dishes, like a chocolate cake made out of avocados, simply the best ever!

Spirulina is a MUST while living in a city and fighting off environmental toxins, here’s why: it contains 10 vitamins, 8 minerals, and 18 amino acids.  Spirulina contains a complete protein of 65-71%, that  is 12-15 time more protein than steak and is 5 times easier to digest than meat or soy protein. It is a natural cleanser and detoxifier, reduces cancer risks with antioxidant protection. Spirulina is high in B 12 and complex for healthy nerves and tissues and is great for vegetarians, Spirulina is rich in iron, magnesium and trace minerals, and is easier to absorb than iron supplements. Spirulina is the richest beta carotene food, with a full spectrum of ten mixed carotenoids. About half are orange carotenes: alpha, beta and gamma and half are yellow xanthophylls. They work synergistically at different sites in our body to enhance antioxidant protection. Spirulina is an ideal anti-aging food; concentrated nutrient value, easily digested and loaded with antioxidants. Beta carotene is good for healthy eyes and vision. This all vegetable, low fat protein means we can lighten up on a meat centered diet that can aggravate arthritis and raise cholesterol. Spirulina is the highest protein food with all the essential amino acids and has only a few calories to keep your waistline where you want it. Spirulina is a gift from the Earth and I need this green food in my body while living in the city to balance my energy and keep me active and balanced.

Last year I introduced Ginseng into my must haves, as I was working 16-18 hour days sometimes up to 5 days a week and ginseng supported and balanced my equalibrium both internally and externally. The one that I use is from Nu Source Naturals and is a Tri-Synergy with 9 sources of Ginseng. For men, it is highly regarded as an aphordisiac and if you are over 50 years old, it should be an alternative rather than using pharmocuticals to keep up your endurance and stamina, just a little side note for you:) Ginseng is excellent as a stress reducer, it reduces blood sugar levels, Other possible benefits of ginseng include lowering cholesterol, lowering blood pressure, lowering the risk of cancer, and dozens of other health conditions.

Activated Zeolite, not many people are aware of this heavy metal remover and reducer but I have to say, it rocks! I supports a healthy immune system and releases any heavy metals from your system which accumilated from the environment, electronics, the food we eat, the air we breath and the water we drink. To me a second must. It is gentle and you do not have to change anything in your diet like most detoxifiers. Zeolites are made of volcanic ash and silicon, Zeolites are very strong ion exchangers and research has shown them to have a high affinity for heavy metals and radioactive substances. They are also a strong antioxidant, immune modulator and antiviral agent.

Zeolite was first used on a large scale after the Chernobyl disaster in 1986. Five hundred thousand tons of zeolite, and especially clinoptilolite, was used in the sarcophagus erected around the remains of the disaster site. A portion of the amount was also used to clean the water in the Dneiper and surrounding areas of the nuclear energy plant. zeolite has the perfect molecular structure for capturing and removing heavy metals from the body including mercury, cadmium, lead, arsenic and aluminum. It also removes radioactive metals like cesium-137 and strontium-90. zeolite do not stimulate the immune system, but allows it to function optimally by removing toxins, yeasts, bacteria and fungi which can depress immune function and interfere with hormones. Many people report feeling increased energy, clarity, and vitality. As you can gather, Zeolite adds an excellent benefit to your body’s needs while living on planet Earth. Chlorella another super green food that I have with me. Chlorella is a freshwater green microalgae power-packed with nutrition. Chlorella is nature’s richest source of chlorophyll, which is regarded as the most effective natural blood cleanser and detoxifier. Chlorella is also the richest natural source of the nucleic acids DNA and RNA, which are essential for healthy cellular growth and repair but inevitably decline as we age. There are numerous benefits, here are some for you to benefit from: increases vital energy and metabolism, balances the PH levels to prevent acidosis, improves circulation and cardiovascular health, lowers blood pressure and normalize blood sugar, protects again cancer causing agents, detoxify the body and helps remove toxic heavy metals, improves  digestive health, slows down aging and promotes longevity.

These are my main dietary intakes that I use living in the city, when I am immersed in nature I do not take any of them, as I am supported and uplifted by the natural elementals around me and eating fruits and veggies from the garden. You can see a flowing stream of similairities in what I put into my body to support my environment. Trust what your body asks for and make sure you are drinking copious amounts of water with lime or lemon to aid in clearing out toxins in the air and your food intake.
